Frequently Asked Questions

Reiki is a Japanese energy-based practice traditionally used to promote relaxation and a sense of balance and wellbeing. During a session, you remain fully clothed and comfortable while I use gentle, intentional touch or work just above your body.
For me, Reiki isn’t about fixing something that is wrong with you. It’s an opportunity to pause. To quiet some of the noise. To give your body and mind a little room to settle.
You don’t need to understand energy work or have any particular beliefs about Reiki to receive a session. You simply het to come as you are.

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words often translated as “universal life-force energy”. Reiki is based on the belief that this life-force energy flows through and around all living things.
During a Reiki session, I act as a channel for this pre-existing energy. I do not create or direct it from my own personal energy. Through my hands, Reiki is invited to flow toward you, either through gentle touch or with my hands held just above your body.
The idea is that your body receives the energy in the way that is most supportive for you in that moment. There is nothing you need to force, visualize, or consciously make happen. You simply rest and allow yourself to receive.
Many people experience Reiki as deeply relaxing. You may notice warmth, tingling, heaviness, lightness, emotional release, vivid sensations, or simply a profound sense of stillness. And sometimes, you may not feel anything particularly dramatic at all. there is no right way to experience Reiki.

Pregnancy and motherhood ask so much of us. Our bodies change, our identities shift, and suddenly so much of our attention belongs to someone else.
Reiki can offer a quiet space within that transition—a chance to slow down and receive rather than constantly give.
Sessions during pregnancy may be centered around relaxation, grounding, preparing for birth, or simply creating space to connect with yourself and your baby.
Postpartum Reiki is especially helpful for recovery post-birth, transition into the early days and weeks of motherhood, and bonding with your baby.
During motherhood, Reiki can be a gentle opportunity to pause and replenish—especially during seasons when you feel stretched thin, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself.

Arrive: We take a few minutes to settle in and talk about how you’re feeling and what you need from the session.
Receive: You remain fully clothed, comfortably lying down on a massage table with blankets and a pillow. I use gentle touch or work just above your body while you fully rest, relax, and simply receive.
Integrate: We leave space afterward to slowly come back, reflect on your experience, and notice what you’re taking with you.

Motherhood asks us to give constantly—to our babies, children, partners, homes, and everyone around us. It can be easy to become so focused on caring for everyone else that we rarely have a moment where we are the one being cared for.
Reiki offers that pause.
It may help create spaces for:
Deep relaxation when your nervous system feels like it is always “on”
Rest and restoration during a physically or emotionally demanding season (pregnancy and early postpartum, especially)
Reconnection with yourself when motherhood has left you feeling a little lost in your roles
A sense of calm and presence during pregnancy, postpartum, or the many transitions that follow
Receiving rather than giving—something mothers don’t get nearly enough opportunities to do
